THE SECTOR'S BIG CHALLENGES
The years to come pose big challenges with the advent of preventive, precision, predictive, personalized, participative and pluralistic medicine. Based on the NBIC paradigm, assertive public policies are going to drastically change the healthcare system as they pursue efficiency while seeking to preserve fairness and maintain standards. Drafting and implementing such plans must preserve the health system while making health services more efficient for the people who use them. At the crossroads where rapidly growing therapeutic innovations meet society’s strong interest in health and wellness, actors from the public health sector play a key role in influencing what kind of health care is provided (preventative or curative, treatment or palliative care) and how healthcare actors interact.
